Artist Statement
Rose is a visual artist using her own film, photography, performance and dreams to make paintings.
In her work she explores experiences of lushness and potential, and the often ridiculous and troublesome existence of our many facets and desires.
Her sensuous, expressive paintings are figurative but abstracted, and purposefully ambiguous in subject and morality. She is interested in how the often earnest subject of the human condition can be shown to contain playfulness and humour.
Rose often works on silk, faux suede or cotton velvet to entice the mammal's desire for softness. She uses the aesthetic in a considered way to emphasise the power of visual beauty, along with phenomenology, to catch the attention of and mesmerise viewers.
